📖 The Story of Jonah (Teacher’s Guide)

Once upon a time, there was a man named Jonah who loved God… but sometimes struggled to obey. 😬
One day, God asked him to go to the city of Nineveh with an important message.
But Jonah didn’t want to go… so he ran away on a ship! 🚢

While Jonah was sleeping on the ship, a great storm arose. 🌊
The frightened sailors woke him up.
Jonah confessed:
—“I’m running from God… throw me into the sea and the storm will stop.”
So they did. 😮

But instead of drowning, God sent a great fish 🐋 that swallowed him.
Even though he had disobeyed, God protected him with mercy. 🙌
Jonah prayed from the belly of the fish, asking God for forgiveness. 🙏
After three days and three nights, the fish spit him out on the shore! 😅

This time, Jonah obeyed and went to Nineveh.
He preached God’s message, the people listened, repented, and God forgave them. 💖

🌿 The Lesson of the Vine

Jonah, still upset, sat outside the city to see what God would do. 😐
God caused a leafy vine to grow and give him shade, and Jonah was happy. 😊
But the next day, a worm dried up the plant 🪱 and the sun scorched him. ☀️
Jonah became very angry…

Then God said to him:

“Are you upset about a plant you didn’t plant or care for?
And shouldn’t I have compassion for a city full of people who don’t know right from wrong?”

God taught Jonah that His love and mercy are for everyone—even those we think don’t deserve it. 💛

✝️ Jonah and Jesus: A Story That Points to the Savior

Jonah spent three days in the belly of the fish, then came out to deliver a message of salvation.
Jesus also spent three days in the tomb, and then rose to give eternal life to the whole world. 🌍✨

Jesus Himself said in Matthew 12:40:

“For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish,
so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”

Jonah was a sign. Jesus was the fulfillment.
💖 He gave His life so you and I can be forgiven and have eternal life.
